2008 Centennial Celebration
with Distinguished Alumni
5 p.m. on May 22, 2008
Sheraton Waikīkī, Hawai‘i Ballroom

This year UHAA will honor its heritage by celebrating with all Distinguished Alumni Award honorees from the university’s first century, while helping to lay a solid foundation for the next 100 years of scholarship at UH.

The event will mark the official launch of the UHAA Endowed Scholarship Fund, which is being established by UHAA in honor of all UH alumni as a way to give back to our alma mater by creating opportunities for future alumni to excel. There will be a silent auction, a performance by slack-key legends George Kuo ’78, Aaron Mahi and Martin Pahinui, and the evening will culminate with a special appearance by C & K Cecilio and Kapono. UHAA congratulates Jim Donovan on his appointment as new athletic director for UH Mānoa! People have commented that Jim bleeds green because of his long relationship with our athletic department, but many don't know that his support of the University of Hawai‘i extends beyond athletics.

We offer him our sincere appreciation for the time, energy and talents he has brought to help promote fellowship among alumni and support for the future of the school in the past six years. We look forward to working with Jim in his new capacity as AD.

The Netlinks Mentorship Program gives TIM students an opportunity to be paired with industry mentors, and provides them with a nurturing environment to develop their communication skills, which are essential in the travel industry. It also offers a great networking opportunity for all attendees. Mentors were specially paired with students based upon the students’ career interests and encouraged to keep in touch in the future. TIM student Stephen Fahl was pleased with his first Netlinks experience and was excited for the opportunity to meet professionals in the industry. Many of this year’s mentors were TIM alumni, and the TIM School is grateful for their continuous support and involvement.
