"There is a strong correlation between overall health and dental health. The Maui Oral Health Center provides critical oral health services to people in need while providing training for students pursuing a career in the dental profession."
Thanks to the generosity of the Lifeguard Charitable Fund, more low income families on Maui will have access to dental care. The Fund’s $5,000 gift will be used to purchase specialized digital x-ray equipment for the Maui Oral Health Center and its Mobil Dental Van, a retrofitted Airstream mobile unit that is capable of traveling throughout Maui to reach economically disadvantaged community members who need dental services.
The Maui Oral Health Center is an important resource for families and students, providing dental care and cleanings, fluoride supplements, dental sealants, x-rays, nutrition counseling and health screenings for low income families. The center also serves as a classroom for Maui Community College students enrolled in the Dental Assisting Program.
