The University of Hawaiʻi Foundation (UHF) is
happy to announce the hiring of Jeffrie Jones, who has been appointed as the new Director of Development for
The John A. Burns School of Medicine, UH Manoa.
Jeffrie has more than 20 years of experience in marketing and brand management, having
worked at General Mills and Helene Curtis on the mainland and overseas before moving to
Hawaiʻi in 1990. Locally,
Jeffrie is a veteran of Hawaiʻi’s
business community, having served as the director of general merchandise and director of marketing
for Foodland Super Market Ltd. and as vice president at Peck Sims Mueller. She was named the
1997 "Advertising Person of the Year" by the Honolulu Advertising Federation.
Most recently, Jeffrie led the start-up fundraising efforts at Straub Clinic and Hospital, an
affiliate of Hawaii Pacific Health, as its Director of Philanthropy. Jeffrie successfully developed
a strong base of individual donor support for Straub Clinic & Hospital, while continuing to raise
funds for Straub Foundation, an affiliated research and education foundation.
Jeffrie earned an MBA '81 from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College
and a BA '79 from the University of California at Los Angeles, graduating Magna Cum
Laude in Economics and French. Jeffrie has volunteered on several local non-profit boards,
including the Hawaii Nature Center. Today, she continues to be very involved in the
community, serving as president of the Hawaiʻi
Theatre Center STARS, a fundraising support group for the theatre, and as a member of the Rotary Club of Honolulu.
In her new role as the Director of Development for the John A. Burns School of Medicine,
Jeffrie will be responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of
individuals, certain corporations and foundations for major gifts to the School. She will
additionally provide leadership to campaigns and special projects for which major gifts are
essential. Through her efforts JABSOM’s students will enjoy an enhanced educational
experience, with vital funding being raised for facilities, endowed faculty positions, scholarships,
research efforts, and more.
