UH Alumni Association Launches First-Ever Alumni Online Community
Web Site Tool Designed to Connect more than 250,000 Alumni Worldwide with Each Other and Their University
(Honolulu, Hawaiʻi) -
The University of Hawai
ʻi Alumni Association (UHAA) in partnership with
the UH Foundation’s Office of Alumni Relations recently launched its alumni online community at
UHalumni.hawaii.edu.
Through the new web site, UH alumni can search for classmates and
friends to find out what they’ve been up to since graduation, post information about themselves,
join UHAA online, find information on any of the nearly 40 UHAA chapters worldwide, register
for member events, read the latest news related to UH and access other valuable information.
We are very proud to announce the first ever UH alumni online community, said UH Foundation’s Associate VP for
Alumni Relations Kevin Takamori (’88). UHAA Online was designed as a tool to nourish the growth and enhance the reputation of the
University of Hawai
ʻi while keeping our alumni connected and actively engaged with each other and the university.
Added UHAA President Karl Fujii (’90), With more than 250,000 alumni of the 10 campuses of the UH System living
across 50 states and in more than 80 countries worldwide, our goal is to keep each and every alumnus connected with each other and
to the mission of our university, and encourage lifelong involvement with UH.
A key component of
UHalumni.hawaii.edu is the online community for which UH
alumni may register. Once registered, alumni may access Class Notes, the web site section where alumni can post
information and photos related to their family, career, or community and educational activities. Registered
alumni can also search the online community for fellow alumni, use it as a resource for networking and as a
convenient way to keep up-to-date on fellow alumni and the
UH. Alumni must register to access the online community using their personal alumni ID number. T
o receive their alumni ID number, alumni can e-mail
alumnihelp@uhf.hawaii.edu
and provide their first name, middle initial, last name, and the academic degree received from UH.
Another key component of the site is the online UHAA membership and special events registration pages. Alumni can
join UHAA online and become involved in an international network of alumni chapters and members who benefit from
educational travel and continued learning opportunities, a stronger connection to UH and fellow alumni, invitations
to members-only events, and a variety of discounts and special promotions from benefit partners. Alumni may also
register for special events including the annual UHAA Distinguished Alumni awards dinner on May 10, 2005 at
the Sheraton Waikiki (

worldwide.
Other major alumni projects recently initiated by the UH Foundation Office of Alumni Relations and UHAA include:
- The UH Centennial alumni directory project, a hardbound coffee-table directory listing of alumni compiled in
commemoration of the 100th anniversary of higher education in Hawaiʻi in 2007. Information on this project can be found at
www.uhf.hawaii.edu/uhalumni/external/FAQprintDirectory.pdf.
- A monthly e-newsletter, Nupepa, for which alumni and other friends of UH can subscribe to by e-mailing:
nupepa.editor@uhf.hawaii.edu.
- The inaugural travel study program taking place April 27-May 2, 2005. This six-day wine and cuisine cruise of
the San Francisco Bay area will be aboard the 128-passenger Yorktown Clipper. For more reservations or for more information,

About the UH Alumni Association
The UHAA was informally constituted in 1922, a few years after the first graduating class of 1911, and formalized into a system-wide
umbrella organization for all UH-recognized alumni groups in 1988. Its members support the university and UHAA sponsors events that
showcase the university’s excellence. Governed by a board of directors, UHAA includes a nationwide and international network of 37
affiliated alumni groups. The association's goal is to generate support for the university by encouraging interaction among UH
graduates and friends. The work of the chapters and the support of the alumni association make the university a stronger learning
institution and thus contribute to the strength of the community.
