The UH Foundation Brings The National Grantsmanship Center Training to Honolulu

Five-day workshop to be held January 3-7, 2005 at UH Mānoa

(Honolulu, Hawaiʻi) - The University of Hawaiʻi Foundation is bringing The Grantsmanship Training Program to Hawaiʻi. As the host for this nationally recognized training program, the Foundation's goal is to provide the state's nonprofit communities with a resource for enhancing development expertise

The general public is invited to participate in this five-day workshop to be held in Honolulu on January 3-7, 2005 at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Founded in 1972, The Grantsmanship Center is the world's oldest and largest grantsmanship training organization for nonprofit organizations. The organization has trained more than 80,000 staff members of public and private agencies.

"We're pleased to make this valued resource available to our colleagues in Hawaiʻi," said Jennifer Foley, assistant director of foundation and corporation relations at the Foundation. "By having the opportunity to attend this training at UH Mānoa, attendees will benefit from a world-class grant writing workshop without the expense and inconvenience of traveling to the mainland."

The Grantsmanship Training Program is an intensive, "hands-on" workshop covering all aspects of researching grants, writing grant proposals, and negotiating with funding sources. It is designed for both novice and advanced grantseekers. During the workshop, participants will learn the Center's proposal writing format, the most widely used such format in the world; team up with classmates to prepare and write a proposal; and have the opportunity to investigate funding sources for their organizations, using a wealth of on-site materials.

A membership to TGCI, the organization behind The Grantsmanship Training Program, is included with this workshop. Upon completion of the workshop, graduates will receive a one-year membership, which includes proposal review and an array of benefits and services. Graduates will also be enrolled in the Alumni Forum, an online discussion group for the exclusive use of TGCI alumni, trainers and staff.

Tuition for this top-quality training program is $825, with registration limited to 30 to maximize personal attention.
